A Monk
Carthusian, Director of Souls
Never forget that God is love, and that the definition of any being indicates the limits of that being. Thus the 'limits' of God are infinite love: He is bound to love. His 'whole' is in love, and love's 'whole' is in Him. We have no right, therefore, to see anything but love in Him. Indeed, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear. Dismiss altogether, then, from your thoughts this distressing fear, which died on the Cross - nay, even in the Crib. Keep up your heart, and rejoice in Him Who 'is', and is Love.

Linda - December 25, 2022 - Christmas is most fundamentally about one truth: that God loves me, freely, totally, personally, unconditionally, joyfully, and that He was willing to come down into His creation to prove that basic truth to me. This truth is articulated so beautifully by the anonymous monk quoted above. All of us need and long for a much deeper and more experiential knowledge of that Love, don't we? Linda and I pray that every one of us may be granted a deeper revelation of that incredible reality this Christmas, the reality of Jesus' personal love for us; a love that can dispel all fear, doubt, sorrow, and anxiety.

1 John 4: 16
We have recognized for ourselves, and put our faith in, the love God has for us.
God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.
Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly,
because even in this world we have become as he is.
In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear.
