A Hermit
Camaldolese Prior
Normally, taking a once-and-for-all
decision is not sufficient
for reaching sanctity.
It is necessary to go forward
without ceasing in order not to stop
and, above all, not to fall back.
Now to know oneself imperfect,
weak, a sinner, and to accept
all this while trying to do better
what until now was done badly -
this is Christian realism
and this is humility,
that "door of heaven"
as the Ancients call it.
