Psalm 2:1-5

Why this uproar among the nations.  This impotent muttering of the peoples?

Kings of the earth take up position, princes plot together against Yahweh and his anointed,

'Now let us break their fetters!  Now let us throw off their bonds!'

He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs, Yahweh makes a mockery of them,

then in his anger rebukes them, in his rage he strikes them with terror.

I myself have anointed my king on Zion my holy mountain.

David said that.  The one who was sitting on the throne in Jerusalem, which was the holy mountain of Zion.  David never lost a battle as king.  Other nations would come up with a plan and try to break free but David always brought them back under subjection. it was the golden era.  David took Israel to this place where all the promises seemed to be fulfilled.  They thought that the promised Messiah would have a similar look.  They thought that this is what the promised Kingdom would look like.  They thought Jesus would take over the throne, oust the enemy and make Israel a great kingdom again.
