O Canada!

In his days

may uprightness flourish,

and peace abound,

till the moon be no more!

May he have dominion

Marcel - Sunday June 30, 2024Canada is still one of the most sought after countries to emigrate to, and considered a welcoming refuge for many displaced souls. But many Canadian citizens of long standing agree that our beloved dominion has radically changed in recent years, and not all those changes have been for the better. A recent survey I read about indicates that a considerable number of Canadians feel the country has become almost unrecognizable. The reason is simple; our beloved Dominion is under siege. There is an immense spiritual battle being waged not only in Canada but for Canada.

Before our eyes the very foundation upon which our country was built is aggressively and systematically being attacked, overthrown and destroyed. That foundation is emphatically declared in our national motto, "Ad Mari Usque Ad Mare", from sea to sea, which is a direct quote of Psalm 72:8. "He shall have dominion from sea to sea."

Our Founding Fathers, in choosing this verse of Scripture as our motto, were deliberately placing our dominion under the dominion of Jesus Christ. Sadly, in recent decades many of our fellow Canadians have drifted away from this foundation and grown indifferent to Christ's dominion over our nation. In the ensuing moral and spiritual vacuum, a very small minority with a very big agenda, have begun to refashion - primarily through education and legislation - the moral fabric of our country.

But we who strive to live under the dominion of Jesus Christ have an opportunity to participate in a major campaign of spiritual warfare to reestablish Christ's dominion over our nation. We can make a simple but concrete response to the age old remedy first revealed to king Solomon thousands of years ago:

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land."  (2 Ch 7:14)

The fundamental problem is a spiritual one and therefore the victory is necessarily ours. Although Canada, as are many other nations, is under a vicious attack by the hordes of hell, we are believers! We are citizens of the Kingdom of God! We are sons and daughters of the Most High, and heirs with Jesus Christ the risen King of glory!

As mentioned, the solution is a simple one. By no means easy, but simple: repentance and conversion, beginning with all of us, God's people, called by His name!
